CoinGate
CoinGate is a cryptocurrency payment processor for merchants, operated by UAB Decentralized in Vilnius, Lithuania.[1] The company site says it has built crypto payment infrastructure since 2014, when the founders registered UAB "Virtualios Valiutos". The same timeline says operations launched in 2015 with a three-person team, and that the entity was renamed UAB "Decentralized" in 2020.[1]
Products
Merchants are offered a hosted checkout, billing by email or link, e-commerce plugins, and an API.[2] The checkout page says businesses can take more than ten crypto assets on multiple networks and layer 2 solutions, and can settle in euros, GBP, US dollars, stablecoins, or crypto. It names plugins for WooCommerce, WHMCS, and Magento 2, and says shoppers can pay with Binance Pay. It describes time-locked prices while a payment is open, and refunds started from the merchant dashboard or the API. The about page adds PrestaShop to the plugin list, and the company timeline adds Wix and Shopware modules in 2022.[1]
Crypto payouts can go to a wallet address, through a claim link shared by email, from a CSV batch, or by API.[3] The payouts page names BTC, LTC, TRX, USDC, SOL, and other assets, and says the recipient does not need a CoinGate account. It says an on-chain payout is not limited by the recipient's country when the asset and network are supported, while the sending account is still subject to compliance checks. The about page describes payouts in more than 180 countries. The company timeline dates the payout product, a Solana integration, and joining the Circle Alliance Program to 2024.[1]
Card purchases and sales shown on the main site are provided by Transak and Simplex. Gift cards are sold by Rewards Distributed UAB, which the site says is not a regulated financial services provider.[4]
History
The about-page timeline places Segregated Witness support in 2017, and says the firm had processed 100,000 crypto payments by then. It places Lightning Network payments in 2018, which it describes as instant and near-zero-fee. Later entries include Binance Smart Chain and a public merchant directory in 2020, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, and WHMCS modules in 2021, and Polygon and Arbitrum payments plus Binance Pay in 2023. The same timeline marks the first 1,000 registered users in 2016, and a wider list of accepted assets plus account permissions in 2019.[1]
Regulation
On 17 December 2025 CoinGate posted that it had been authorised under the European Union Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation for merchant crypto payments and payouts.[5] A support article states that the services are provided by UAB "Decentralized", a company registered in Lithuania and authorised by the Bank of Lithuania as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA, and also authorised as a payment institution for transfer services for electronic money tokens.[6] The site footer states authorization codes LB002323 for crypto-asset services and LB002324 for those electronic money token transfers.[5]
