BitPay is a cryptocurrency payment processor and wallet provider founded in May 2011. It remains an operating merchant-payments and consumer-wallet business.[1]
EU MiCA status
On 15 July 2026 BitPay announced that BitPay B.V., its European subsidiary, had received Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorisation under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). BitPay states the authorisation covers regulated crypto payment services across the EU, including payment processing, cross-border payments, and access to partner-supported buying, selling, and swapping of digital assets.[2][3]
