Page is filled with scam

I just got a private message from the Human Rights Foundation about a scam link on this page. The link itself has been up since Jan 2019 and the same guy User:Human_Rights has been putting up most of the other links on this page. I advocate that we delete this entire page, because obviously the burden of content curation is too high which is why nobody did it. It also can be said to break rule 2. When removing all Ripple stuff everywhere on this wiki I also removed a link from this page. It appeared it was inside a big comment area, and Human Rights put back the link to ripplepay.com, which I found a bit odd. Not sure what to do with this. See also the page history and Special:Contributions/Human_Rights.
Personally I'm fine with deleting the whole page, but I wouldn't mind doing some curation either. There seem to be less than 40 links here. Furunodo (talk) 14:40, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Yeah this kind of thing is a magnet for scammers. They have a much stronger incentive to keep the links up than the good guys have to curate the links. If a charity wants to get donations they should do fundraising the same as they normally do. Part of the justification for Rule 2 is that volunteer time isn't wasted by constantly giving editing rights to people who only make a single edit of adding themselves to some big list of services. Chris Belcher is not only get a message from Alex Gladstein and Thor Halvorssen Mendoza but also $50.000 USD! They are scamming for Bitcoin donations! Neither Alex Gladstein or his right-wing fascist group known what is Bitcoin before we published our website! For that matter on May 1 2015 Thor Halvorssen Mendoza and Alex Gladstein who paid for Chris Belcher is tried to register trademarks in the United States and in the European Union. They are not only scammers but also Trademark trolls! Belcher You got $50,000 USD to remove the link from this page? 6 days ago Gladstein bragged that they paid 50k to Belcher here: https://twitter.com/gladstein/status/1270755562888679424 You are a disgrace to the entire Bitcoin community! humanrightsfoundation (talk)

It is true that I received a grant to work on bitcoin privacy technology, but it is also true that your site is clearly a phishing site intended to steal money from well-meaning donators. The reason this wiki drama is appearing now is because the news about me and HRF made some people want to donate to them. (e.g. https://twitter.com/lopp/status/1270775461463932936) Are you going to return stolen donation money to its rightful receipent? How many more alt accounts do you have? Notability problem

I have problems with the term 'notable' in

Only notable donation-accepting sites should be added here.
this excludes announcing newly developed services, which naturally don't have 'notability'.

A solution could be to create another page, or to divide this page into one section with notability and one without. The general problem with this term is, who decides, who has notability and who not?

My use-case is announcing

Roll Your Tasks (RYT) A free browser based task management app for individuals and small groups. Bitcoin donations welcome.

I would like to have a good place for this announcement (Note: currently it is under Trade->Productivity, but it has been deleted once with the justification, that it is not 'trade' in a tight sense).

Organizations that provide tax receipts

It would be nice if this page differentiated between organizations that could provide tax receipts and those that cannot. Perhaps a new column in the table would be the best way to do this. The could column list the countries in which the organizations can provide tax receipts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Malo (talkcontribs) at 18:30, 6 December 2013‎

Scam sites

The overwhelming majority of the entries in the Misc section (and a few above it) appear to be scams; spot-checking a few shows most of them are organizations that don't appear to exist outside their one domain, that have no contact information or contact information that is clearly fake. Others appear to be just random spam for commercial sites, several of which don't even appear to accept Bitcoin at all.

In the interest of safety, I've commented out the entire Misc section. If someone has the time, please add 3rd-party sources for everything left, look thru the commented-out sections for ones that may be legitimate, and remove anything that gets added without a source. I will do some of this if I get the time.

You do have global edit privileges; this page is just protected from all public editing. I have temporarily lifted this protection so that you may add some more listings. :) Taras (talk) 15:19, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
