CoinTerra was an Austin, Texas based designer and seller of bitcoin mining ASIC processors and systems. Its retail product line included the GoldStrike I ASIC and TerraMiner IV mining rigs, marketed at about 2 TH/s class performance when announced.

History

CoinTerra sold ASIC mining hardware into the retail and hosted mining markets during the 2013–2014 ASIC boom. Like several peers, it faced delivery delays, customer complaints, and mounting debts to data-center and service vendors.

On January 24, 2015, CoinTerra filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division (case 1:15-bk-10109).[1] Chapter 7 indicated liquidation rather than reorganization. Court filings placed assets and liabilities each in the $10–50 million range and named hundreds of creditors, including data-center providers and individual customers.[1]

The filing followed pressure from creditors such as C7 Data Centers, which had sued over unpaid fees and damages.[1]
