History

Blockstream was founded in 2014 by a group of prominent Bitcoin developers and cryptographers, including Adam Back (inventor of Hashcash), Gregory Maxwell, Pieter Wuille, Austin Hill, and others. Adam Back serves as CEO.

The company has raised significant funding, including over $210 million in a Series B round in 2021, achieving a valuation of $3.2 billion at that time.[2][3] Additional investments have occurred since, with ongoing developments in Bitcoin infrastructure.[4]
