Vault of Satoshi was a Canadian bitcoin exchange that offered fiat-to-bitcoin trading among members. Public penetration testing began in April 2013 and public launch followed on 7 October 2013. Deposit methods included Interac Online and on-site Interac debit deposits, Vault of Satoshi codes, bank wire, PAD, online bill payment, and InstaBT; withdrawals included Mastercard and Interac debit cards, PayPal, and EFT.
Proof of solvency
Vault of Satoshi announced a transparent solvency audit using open-source proof-of-solvency software.[1][2]
Closure
On 5 January 2015 co-founder Mike Curry said the exchange would close so the founders could focus on TurboFlix, a Netflix-library bypass streaming venture. A company notice stated that deposits had stopped and that access to funds and withdrawals would remain available until 5 February. The notice stressed that the closure was not due to insolvency, stolen funds, or a similar incident. Curry and co-founder Ryan van Barneveld framed the decision as personal focus on TurboFlix rather than a bearish view of bitcoin.[3]
