Edge is a non-custodial multi-asset wallet line from Edge Security, continuing the mobile wallet formerly branded Airbitz. The company announced the rename on 28 October 2017, stating that Airbitz would operate under Edge branding with an emphasis on client-side Edge Security, and introducing Edge Wallet as an overhaul of the Airbitz wallet.[1]
History
Airbitz began as a San Diego wallet and merchant-location product with open-source clients and community Libbitcoin server use.[2] The October 2017 announcement described Edge Wallet as written with a modular architecture to secure and transact with blockchains and tokens, with conversion between supported digital assets and SegWit support for bitcoin and litecoin.[1]
Products
As of September 2026, edge.app presents Edge as a non-custodial wallet product for managing digital assets on user devices without Edge custody of private keys, alongside support and documentation materials on the same site.[3]
