Coinify is a Danish cryptocurrency payments and trading company. It operated as a payment processor with merchant bitcoin acceptance and fiat settlement.
Voyager acquisition and sale
On 2 August 2021 Voyager Digital announced acquisition of Coinify ApS, describing Coinify as a cryptocurrency payment platform with a global user base in over 150 countries and framing the deal as accelerating Voyager's international expansion.[1]
In August 2022, during Voyager's U.S. Chapter 11 restructuring, Voyager announced agreement to sell all equity interests in Coinify ApS to Ascension ApS, an entity owned by certain Coinify management members, for US$2 million cash, with a conditional earn-out if Ascension later sold Coinify within three years. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the sale on 16 August 2022. That Coinify sale is distinct from Voyager's broader brokerage wind-down.[2]
Coinify continued as an operating brand after that sale. Continuity of Coinify is not the same event as Voyager's Chapter 11 wind-down of the U.S. brokerage.
