ABEscrow was an early Bitcoin escrow service operated by Atlantic Escrow Limited in Hong Kong.

Service model

ABEscrow held bitcoin during a transaction until the sender released the funds to the recipient after receiving the promised item or service. This was a custodial, third-party escrow model: the operator temporarily controlled the funds and was expected to reduce non-delivery risk between buyers and sellers.

An archived version of the service's homepage from 2 November 2013 marketed ABEscrow as an “Anonymous Bitcoin Escrow,” identified the operator as Atlantic Escrow Limited in Hong Kong, and claimed that the service did not retain IP addresses in its log files.[1]
