Zulfikar Ramzan
Zulfikar Ramzan is a computer-security researcher and technology executive whose Bitcoin-related work includes teaching the Khan Academy Bitcoin Video Series, a nine-part introduction to Bitcoin and its cryptographic building blocks.[1]
He currently works at Point Wild as its Chief AI & Technology Officer.[2]
Career
Ramzan's work has focused on cryptography, cybersecurity, malware, fraud, identity, large-scale security analytics, and AI-driven security products. He was a technical director in Symantec's Security Technology and Response division, then held senior technical roles at Immunet, Sourcefire, Elastica, RSA, NetWitness, and Aura.[3][4]
At RSA, Ramzan served as Chief Technology Officer and later Chief Digital Officer. He was also Chief Product Officer of NetWitness, RSA's threat detection and response business. In January 2022, Aura announced that he had joined the company as Chief Scientist and CEO of Aura Labs, after having previously served on Aura's board of directors.[4]
Education and writing
Ramzan holds a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his doctoral advisor was Ronald L. Rivest.[3]
He has co-authored more than 50 technical articles and two books, including Crimeware: Understanding New Attacks and Defenses. Brown University's profile credits him with more than 50 granted patents and notes that he served as general chair of Crypto 2010.[3]
Ramzan has produced the Khan Academy Bitcoin Video Series and served as guest faculty for them.[3]
