Wallet of Satoshi is an Australian Bitcoin and Lightning Network wallet for iOS and Android, developed in connection with the Living Room of Satoshi bill-pay gateway. Operator materials describe two modes: a custodial mode in which the operator holds keys on the user's behalf (available only in supported regions) and a self-custodial mode in which the user holds the keys (available everywhere). The app presents the mode available in the user's region, and users can move funds between modes where both are offered.[1][2]
Living Room of Satoshi
Living Room of Satoshi is an Australian cryptocurrency bill-pay and bank-payout gateway established in 2014 and associated with CEO Daniel Alexiuc. The service lets customers pay Australian bills and bank accounts with bitcoin and other crypto-assets. Operator materials describe an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL 507130).[3]
Launch
Bitcoinist reported that Wallet of Satoshi entered beta around 4 January 2019 as a product of Living Room of Satoshi and travel firm TravelbyBit, with an initial cohort of about one thousand beta wallets. Coverage framed the app as an entry-level Lightning wallet aimed at users who did not want to operate their own Lightning node. Alexiuc described availability on iOS and Android in contemporaneous comments to local press.[2]
