Genesis Mining was an Iceland-linked cloud mining provider that sold remote hashrate contracts for bitcoin and other coins. It launched in February 2014 and was frequently covered in the mid-2010s as a major cloud-mining vendor.[1][2] Secondary industry reviews state that it stopped offering new cloud-mining contracts around early 2021. A formal corporate dissolution date is not asserted here.[3]
History
The company marketed contract-based access to mining capacity rather than customer-owned hardware. Contemporary reporting placed mining facilities in Iceland, Canada and Bosnia.[1] Genesis Mining also partnered with hardware vendors such as Spondoolies-Tech for cloud offerings in the mid-2010s.[4]
Secondary industry reviews state that Genesis Mining stopped offering new cloud-mining contracts around early 2021 (often cited as February 2021) and that remaining activity, if any, was limited to existing customers.[3] The corporate site has continued to expose account and customer-service paths. A formal corporate dissolution date is not asserted here.
