Luno (formerly BitX) is a cryptocurrency exchange focused on emerging markets, especially Africa and parts of Southeast Asia. On 9 September 2020, Digital Currency Group (DCG) announced it had acquired Luno.[1]
Geographic focus (2026)
Luno remains an operating exchange in its core markets. Separately, Luno Help guidance describes account closures for customers in regions where Luno will no longer provide service, with exits referenced from 1 September 2026 for affected regions.[2] That is a geographic wind-down, not a whole-firm shutdown.
