Cryptopia (Cryptopia Limited) was a New Zealand cryptocurrency exchange based in Christchurch. In January 2019 its exchange was hacked with a significant loss of crypto-assets. Trading was later suspended when the company entered liquidation.[1]
On 14 May 2019, David Ruscoe and Russell Moore of Grant Thornton New Zealand were appointed liquidators of Cryptopia Limited by special resolution of the shareholders. Grant Thornton stated that the January 2019 hack had severely affected the business and that trading on the exchange was suspended while assets were secured for stakeholders.[1] Any later use of the historical domain does not restore the original exchange operator.
