Coinprism was a web wallet for Colored Coins and ordinary bitcoin. It implemented the Open Assets protocol and offered issuance, transfer, exploration, and related developer tools for blockchain assets on bitcoin. The service shut down around the end of March 2018. Users were told to withdraw funds and export private keys before closure.
History
Coinprism entered beta in March 2014 and a fuller launch followed that spring.[1] Through 2014–2015 the project shipped dividend features, a colored-coin API and explorer, the open-source Colorcore wallet, an Open Assets Python library, an Android app, and offline-signing support with wallets such as Armory and TREZOR.
By late March 2018 the site warned that the service would shut down and instructed users to withdraw and export keys. CoinDesk reported the closure for that weekend (around 31 March 2018). Founder Flavien Charlon cited a weak long-term business model, the shift of token activity toward ERC-20-style platforms, fee and confirmation unpredictability on bitcoin for asset use cases, and rising regulatory scrutiny of token services.[2]
Colored-coin and bitcoin balances lived on the bitcoin blockchain. Access through Coinprism's hosted interface ended with the shutdown. Users who exported keys could continue to manage outputs with compatible Open Assets tooling.
