Bitcoil was an Israeli exchange for trading between bitcoins and Israeli new shekels (ILS). Purchases and redemptions used Israeli bank transfers. Historical fee copy described a 5 ILS fee per trade in addition to a spread versus reference rates.[1]

History

The exchange was announced on 13 April 2011.[2] On 30 June 2011 the site closed temporarily and relaunched on 1 August 2011. In later years the FAQ carried a maintenance message stating that Bitcoil was down while building legal, financial, technical and operational infrastructure, hoping to resume full operations in a few months, and directing users to partners Bits of Gold for ILS bitcoin trades.[3]

As of a 22 September 2026 fetch, the Bitcoil homepage stated that the service is currently unavailable and asked visitors to use partners Bits of Gold to buy or sell bitcoins for Israeli shekels. The page does not state a permanent closure calendar date.[4]
