Abe is a free, open-source block chain browser released by John Tobey under the Affero General Public License.
Written in Python and portable SQL, Abe drew inspiration from Bitcoin Block Explorer and sought partial compatibility with it while using a new implementation.[1]
History
John Tobey announced Abe on BitcoinTalk in June 2011 as an AGPL block explorer hosted on GitHub. The announcement described it as free and open source, able to show block, transaction and address-history pages, written in Python and portable SQL, and able to handle several chains in the same database.[2] A later announcement for Abe 0.7 described it as an open-source blockchain browser with a subset of the Bitcoin Block Explorer interface and API.[3]
