Bithive is a [[Pooled mining|mining pool]]. Its aim is to provide an alternative, stable pooling option for both professional and casual miners whilst fighting the threat posed by [[Weaknesses#Attacker_has_a_lot_of_computing_power|insecure network dispersion]]. The service was first available for beta testing starting 14 May 2011<ref>[http://bithive.org Bithive News]</ref>, and they currently have fees set to '''0.01%''' as a promotion for testing purposes.

==Reward distribution==
Bithive uses a proportional sharing, which means that you are rewarded based on your contribution to finding a block.
For example, if there were only two people in the pool both mining at 500 Mh/s, each would be rewarded approximately 25 BTC per block.
If one of them was mining at 1 Gh/s, that person would receive ~33.3 bitcoins (66.6%) and the other person would receive 16.7 bitcoins,
the remaining 33.3%.  Bithive currently have a 0.01% fee for test purposes
